Colour Theory
Colour theory and the perceptual effects of colour have been an ongoing area of investigation in my practice. In 2013 I began producing works on paper that explored gradation, contrast, and the optical behaviour of colour. These geometric compositions were made primarily with gouache and watercolour, allowing for precision, subtle transitions, and layered intensity.
My thinking in this area has been shaped by the colour theorists Johannes Itten, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, and Josef Albers, whose approaches to colour relativity and perception continue to inform my experiments. I have also drawn significant inspiration from the work of Anni Albers and Mark Rothko, particularly their understanding of composition, balance, and the emotional resonance created through specific colour relationships.
