Heritage colour

I love colour and I have been working with colour not only as an artist but

as colourist in the paint industry and an interior decorator.

After many years of teaching and working with colour and interiors,

I now provide colour consultancy for heritage buildings.

I see myself as an intermediary between the client and the building.

I would like to assist in merging the client’s preferences and individuality

with the building’s character, feel and history.

Therefore, I don’t supplant or impose a style, but aim to understand

both the client and the place.

The consultancy can involve:

  • Selection of interior colours: for walls, ceilings and architectural period features

  • Selection of exterior colours: for walls, doors, window frames,

    roof and architectural period features

  • Selection of wallpapers

The colour selection can involve:

  • Colour matching to existing colours or archival colour samples

  • Custom colour mixing. I have access to a tinting machine!

  • Colour testing: I create large colour brush outs and test colour in space

    in different light conditions

  • Colour formulas: I record custom colour formulations

  • Paint schedule: I create a paint schedule for the painter

    including prep information

I work with Porter’s Paints products and Farrow and Ball colour charts.
